Esta semana, Engadget.com, uno de los blogs imprescindibles para estar al día en las novedades tecnológicas, decidió cerrar los comentarios de los usuarios, dado que en los últimos días el nivel de agresividad y ataques fuera de tono se había ido completamente de las manos. Para Engadget, es una media dolorosa pero necesaria, la única forma de enfriar el ambiente excesivamente caldeado por los trolls. Podría haber optado por la validación pre-publicación, o por permitir comentar sólo a usuarios registrados, pero ha preferido acabar con la rabia matando al perro.
Un blog sin comentarios es como una fabada sin morcilla o un Madrid-Barça que acaba en empate a cero… No es lo mismo. La base está ahí, pero falta un ingrediente fundamental. Cerrar los comentarios puede interpretarse como una victoria de los trolls o como una forma de aniquilarlos, cercenando de cuajo su espacio vital (la impunidad de los comentarios anónimos), aunque con el inconveniente de que pagan justos por pecadores.
La duda es: ¿qué hace un troll cuando ya no puede comentar en su web favorita? ¿Se va a otra web a sembrar cizaña? ¿Espera pacientemente –alimentando su ira contra la humanidad- a que se reabran los comentarios? ¿Vuelve a ver “David el gnomo” en DVD? No lo sabemos…

Lo que es inconcebible a todas luces es que la gente se ampare en el anonimato para emitir unas críticas fuera de tono. Me encanta que se empiecen a tomar medidas de este tipo.
